Kickstart your energy career with Weatherford’s 10-week paid rotational internship in Cairo. Gain hands-on exposure across field operations and repair divisions, positioning yourself for a highly-coveted permanent role in the NextGen Field Engineer pipeline.
Rotational Exposure: Rotate through critical energy departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of the business, including Repair & Maintenance (R&M), Field Operations, Quality, and Sales.
Project Execution: Contribute directly to real-world, high-impact operational projects designed to drive safe, sustainable, and highly efficient energy exploration and production.
HS&E Compliance: Consistently apply rigorous Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) protocols to ensure absolute compliance and maintain a zero-incident working environment on the shop floor.
Professional Development: Engage actively in specialized technical training sessions, networking events, and career workshops while receiving direct mentorship from seasoned petroleum professionals.
Academic Standing: Must be currently enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program at a recognized university.
Target Engineering Majors: Exclusively open to students pursuing Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Civil, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering disciplines.
Time Commitment: Must be fully available for the complete 10-week paid duration, commencing strictly on June 1st, 2026, and ending on August 8th, 2026.
Linguistic & Soft Skills: Exhibit fluent written and spoken English, paired with strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced field environments.
Legal Authorization: Candidates must possess legal authorization to work in Egypt without the need for any future visa sponsorship or employment restrictions.
Operating as a Field Engineer inside Weatherford’s massive global energy network requires more than theoretical petroleum engineering; it demands a deep understanding of Repair & Maintenance (R&M) lifecycles under extreme subsurface pressure. When deploying high-tech drilling tools or wireline equipment, mechanical failure is not an option. Interns must rapidly understand how strict Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) protocols integrate directly with R&M procedures. Knowing how to execute a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) before tearing down a mechanical rig component ensures zero Non-Productive Time (NPT) for the client. This mastery of marrying physical machinery repair with absolute safety compliance is exactly what transforms a summer intern into a permanent NextGen Field Engineer.
Because this 10-week internship acts as a direct pipeline for the permanent “NextGen Field Engineer Program,” your interview will heavily test your hands-on field readiness, not just your GPA. When asked about handling high-pressure situations, utilize the STAR method to detail a university engineering project where you dealt with physical hardware or mechanical troubleshooting. Do not just say you “care about safety.” Specifically mention to the hiring managers that you would instantly initiate a Stop Work Authority (SWA) if you identified a hazard on the rig floor or in the R&M shop. Proving that you have the mechanical aptitude to get your hands dirty, paired with the uncompromising maturity to halt unsafe operations, will instantly secure your acceptance.
Q: Is the Weatherford Operations Internship a paid opportunity?
A: Yes, this is a fully paid 10-week rotational internship program designed to fairly compensate engineering students while providing elite, hands-on oilfield exposure from June to August 2026.
Q: Can 2nd or 3rd-year university students apply for this specific intake?
A: No, Weatherford has explicitly stated that applicants must be currently enrolled in their final year of a Bachelor’s or Master’s engineering degree to be considered.
Q: Does this 10-week program lead to full-time employment after graduation?
A: While not guaranteed, the program acts as a major recruitment pipeline. Successful completion of the rotational internship heavily positions you for a permanent role as a Field Engineer through Weatherford’s prestigious NextGen Field Engineer Program.
